Powel House

Built in 1765, the Powel House was the home of Samuel Powel who served as the last Mayor of Philadelphia under the British Crown.

Powel was also the first Mayor of Philadelphia after the creation of the United States. Powel and his wife frequently entertained notable guests such as John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and George Washington.  It is believed some of the spirits of these figures still haunt the house today.  Join us on the Spirits of '76 Ghost Tour and hear more in "The Story of Spectral Soldiers."
